gabriella emailed me this morning with a picture of the autumn leaves in gothenberg attached. this prompted me to email her back with some foliage of munich- still green.
The leaves look like summer, but the weather is definitely fall. Poor Jennifer and Wes… I think Jennifer especially finds it too gray and dreary.
Tinka was the first English speaking person I met in Munich. She had moved to Munich with her boyfriend after a year long internship in NY. She’s been a lifesaver at work helping me translate things, helping me communicate with my other German colleagues, and generally being sweet and fun. I will miss her.
She made us all a nice breakfast.

I’ve passed this place many times and I love the sign. It’s like an unholy product of axis powers. Although to be fair, I haven’t tried their food yet. I just find the combination funny. They should get on this in Hawaii.

Two weeks ago I cleaned out all the old papers that had collected around my desk area and I found this paper towel. I vaguely remember doodling on it while on the phone many moons ago.
allison and I met a few days before her 20th birthday. we were in the same classes, and she asked if I wanted to get some coffee after school. I immediately felt comfortable with her and I ended up moving into the same apartment a few weeks later. I can still see her in her brown and white striped house dress eating wheat cereal with her omega 3 milk before we would walk to school together. I used her as a model for illustrations and photographs and came away that year with a portfolio of work and an amazing friend. She also got me saying “y’all” at one point.
Allison and Angelo are really great together. They both have so much fun with each other and are always laughing about something. They are two of the most giving people I know. Their wedding really captured the spirit of their relationship.
niko and i went to italy for allison and angelo’s wedding this past weekend. it was beautiful… pictures of the wedding to come.
we went to work normally on thursday and then flew out in the evening and drove our red cinquecento through tuscany to the borgo di santa maria. we visited small tuscan towns like siena, pienza, castellina in chianti, panzano.

lunch outside at rindermarkt today. soon the weather will start to change and all the fountains in munich will be covered up for the winter.
back in hawaii when i was still a vegetarian and eating tofu on a regular basis, id sometimes have a nice breakfast consisting of spinach, onion and grilled tofu on an english muffin. today i had the carnivorous version of that: a fried egg, some ham and cheese on an english muffin. this was the resulting grease. i feel a bit guilty looking at it. tasty though…
