I got together tonight with some old classmates from my german class at the vhs. two of them are going back to australia, and one of them was visiting from the uk, so it seemed like a good opportunity to catch up.

Sara came over today with some Krapfen and fried Apple pastry and we sat around and made stamps. For dinner we went back to her place and Christian made us grilled chicken sandwiches, which I downed with a Dr. Pepper and tortilla chips from the gas station. For some reason, gas stations in Germany carry Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and Rootbeer, but you don’t usually find those drinks in normal stores.

Yesterday was Tag der Deutschen Einheit (German Unity Day). It also marked my third year in Munich. Niko and I usually do something Bavarian to celebrate. The first year we drove to Kochel am See and on the way home we happened upon an awesome restaurant that quickly became my favorite place for Bavarian food. We went back there yesterday with Sara and Christian.
The weather lately has been great. Cool and breezy with clear skies. The sun was setting on the drive down so I took a few shots from the car.

we all shared a pizza that was half a meter in diameter.

we went to visit niko’s mom this weekend. niko comes from a region in bavaria called Berchtesgadener which is really beautiful. lots of green fields, mountains and lakes. we had lunch on saturday at a place called Schmuggler which has really nice salads. on the drive back, we stopped at Chiemsee for a few minutes.
